My home town still has that most Democratic of ideals in which we gather once a year (at least) to vote on every line item in the budget and to enact the new law that will rule and govern us for the year to follow. This Yankee tradition has remained a bedrock of our way of life since colonial times and it is a unique experience in local politics.
